Windows 8.1 and Delay on log-on script

Whilst I was building up a Windows 2 Go USB stick, in testing we realised that our mapped drives were not being created from the log-on vbs script.

After a bit of testing we noticed that the script ran 5 minutes after being logged on. Now, as it was exactly 5 minutes we knew something was either delaying it or it there was a new setting in Windows 8 which we hadn’t noticed.

After some digging we found the below group policy setting which is new in Windows 8.1 which was pre-set to delay logon scripts. This is found:

Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy
